Daikin Industries Ltd was founded by Akira Yamada in 1924. It manufactures HVAC products in Japan as well as the United States, Australia, China, India, Southeast Asia, Philippines, South America, and Europe. In 2004, Daikin entered the HVAC market in North America and then acquired Goodman Global in 2012, expanding its presence in the United States in both HVAC split-system and duct-type air conditioners. The acquisition of Goodman increased Daikin’s operations, making it the largest HVAC manufacturer in the world. To support this new growth, it constructed Daikin Texas Technology Park, the largest HVAC manufacturing plant in the United States, opening in 2017. The facility, located in Waller, Texas, is also the fifth largest factory in the world; and, at 4.1 million square feet, it houses everything from manufacturing to customer support. Daikin markets HVAC equipment under the brands, Daikin, Goodman, and Amana.
Daikin continues to move the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry forward by embracing new technologies and innovative ideas. They invented variable refrigerant volume systems (VRV) which are also manufactured by other companies as VRF systems. Carrying on as innovators in the HVAC arena, Daikin codeveloped a R-410A refrigerant with Carrier. They also recognized the consumers need for systems that required less space while offering optimal comfort, so they design their products to answer the call.
The Daikin brands Amana and Goodman are recognized by Modernize, an online source of matching consumers with HVAC contractors in their area, as top 10 HVAC brands. Williams Comfort Air services all models of Daikin products, including split/multi-split, air-to-water heat pump systems, heating systems, air purifiers, VRV systems, ventilation, control systems, air-cooled chillers, and water-cooled chillers equipment.
Daikin leads the way in three cutting-edge core technologies: heat pumps, inverters, and refrigerant controls. They have received many Good Design Awards for many products such as the 2018 Red Dot Award for their Linea air conditioner and the 2018 Good Design Award for the Urusara 7 air conditioner.
